By the way, many friendships have been mentioned in the Mahabharata. In this, the friendship of Shri Krishna and Arjuna and the friendship of Duryodhana and Karna is the main one. Today we will tell you some special things about the friendship of Duryodhana and Karna.

According to the stories of Mahabharata, we all know that Kunti had abandoned Karna at the rate of society. After this Karna was raised on a charioteer. Due to which Karna had to face very humiliating circumstances due to not being a Kshatriya.

How did Duryodhana and Karna become friends?

We all know very well that Karna took his teaching from Parashuram. Karna was a great archer and powerful warrior of the world. Even in the stories of Mahabharata, we have found evidence of this many times.

Once the archery examination was conducted in Hastinapur. At that time Arjuna was a warrior who was the best archer in the world. Karna also showed his skills in this examination. Seeing his archery, he impressed all the people present in the meeting there.

But when it came to the competition of Karna and Arjun in front of each other, Draunacharya and Bhishma refused, saying that Karna is neither a prince nor a master of any country. That is why he cannot participate in this competition. Also, they questioned his participation in this competition because he was not Kshatriya.

Why did Duryodhana befriend Karna?

Everyone present in the meeting was well aware that Karna was the only one who could beat Arjuna in this competition. When Duryodhana saw the skill of Karna, he was surprised. Anyway, Duryodhana used to hate all Pandavas including Arjuna and Bhima. He did not want Arjun to win this competition under any circumstances.

Duryodhana, using his intelligence, decided to make Karna the king of Angadesh. Angadesh used to be under Hastinapur at that time. This region was dominated by Hastinapur. Thus, Duryodhana, keeping the first foundation of his friendship with Karna, made him a king and was eligible to participate in this competition.

So in some way, Duryodhana started his friendship with Karna by giving him an equal place in society. Karna also thanked him for all these things and promised him that he would support him under any circumstances.

Karna kept this promise given to Duryodhana till the last moments of his life. We have found evidence of Duryodhana and Karna’s friendship many times in the Mahabharata stories. Karna married Duryodhana’s wife Bhanumati’s Sakhi Supriya for the sake of their friendship.

When Karna came to know that he is not a sutputra but a Kshatriya and he is the eldest brother of Pandavas, even then he did not leave Duryodhana’s side. He decided to fight the battle in favor of Duryodhana, despite Kunti and Krishna being convinced in the war of Mahabharata. Another truth behind this is that Karna always considered Duryodhana more powerful than Yudhishthira and wanted to make him the future emperor of Hastinapur.

Final words of the Friendship of Duryodhana and Karna

Many people believe that Duryodhana had chosen Karna as his friend only for his selfishness. He was quite well acquainted with the powers of Karna. That is why he gave Karna a favor by making him the king of Anga. Karna had to pay the price of this favor till his last time.

Karna was a great warrior as well as a very good friend. Karna knew very well that Duryodhana was going to be defeated in the war of Mahabharata and that Kuruvansh was also going to be destroyed. Despite this, he followed his friend Duryodhana till the last time and sacrificed his life for him.
